Follow-Up Study on Consumer Barriers to Oral Health Services

2019-2020

This study expanded upon previous work by the OHWRC evaluating consumers’ perspectives about their oral heal status and perceived barriers to care. The study used data from a survey of consumers in 2018-19 and 2019-20 about their access to oral health services and the predominant barriers to those services. Questions asked about distance from providers, difficulties with transportation, and dental insurance. Researchers describe differences in access to oral health services by sociodemographic factors, levels of oral health literacy and geography of residence. The data was analysed by age cohorts including children, working age adults, and adults ages 65 years and older.
